Two tales of mischievous male reporters, Frank Capra's delightful romantic comedy, It Happened One Night, considered a point of reference for American cinema, starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert, followed by My Girl Friday with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell screwballing their way around Howard Hawks' raucous 'tour de force'. We know you've seen them, if you haven't you better, but if you have, you must see them again.

Film Excerpt

Myles Connolly to Frank Capra on It Happened One Night

"You say It Happened One Night is an accident. That picture's no accident. It's you. Letting something out without thinking. And, you know what else you've done with that picture? No, I'm sure you don't. But, you've started a new form of entertainment. You took the old classic four of show business - hero, heroine, villain, comedian - and cut it down to three, by combining hero and comedian into one person. And, the public is eating it up. So stop worrying about saying something 'big' to people for two hours in the dark. That would scare the hell out of anybody. Just tell your simple tales about the Johns and Janes, and the Henry's and the Harriets - with comedy. That's your forte. And, you'll unconsciously stick in some kind of a 'message'. Because, you can't help it now - you're growing up." From Frank Capra's autobiography.
